We are now closed
After three fantastic years in Shoreditch, we’re on the move and finished with a bang on Saturday 27th July. Thank you to all our lovely guests and to our team for making the time on Charlotte Road so enjoyable.
We are planning an exciting new restaurant for 2025 in a new location.
So watch this space and follow us on Instagram for updates later in the year.

Bookings can be made online, by email, over the phone or in person for up to 6 months in advance.
All bookings will automatically receive a confirmation message with lots of useful information about your visit, when an email address has been provided. If you do not receive this email within 24 hours of making your booking, please contact us directly.
We try to keep tables for walk-ins, but this might not be possible during busy times, so we strongly recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.
During the reservation process you will be asked to provide a valid credit card number for an authentication of £10 per person, to secure all dinner bookings of up to 11 people. There is no advance payment taken but we kindly request notice is provided (as specified below) should you need to cancel your reservation.
It’s absolutely fine to adjust the number of guests attending, but please inform us in writing at least 48 hours prior to your reservation date, to avoid any penalty charges.
Large parties of 12 people or more will be required to pay a deposit of £20 per person to confirm commitment.
If for any reason you need to cancel your booking in its entirety, we require the following notification:
- For up to 11 people, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice.
- For larger groups of 12 people or more, we require at least 7 days’ notice.
Should you not arrive on the date without providing the required notice, a late cancellation/no-show fee will be charged, or in the case of large groups the deposit will be retained. Full terms and conditions may be viewed HERE.
The menus at Apothecary East showcase contemporary Japanese small plates. Our cooking is progressive whilst also respectful to traditional flavours, ingredients and cooking techniques.
We usually recommend four small plates per person and the dishes will be served as and when ready. This relaxed form of service is unlike other Japanese styles of eating, and food is usually shared by everyone at the table.
To view our sample menus, please visit ‘Our Menus’ section of this website.
We will always do our best to accommodate your specific dietary requirements and have multiple dishes available on our menus to cater for different diets. All our vegetarian dishes are also vegan by design.
All our dishes are prepared in our one kitchen, where a variety of ingredients are used (including nuts, soy, eggs, dairy and gluten). Although we follow the strictest hygiene practices to minimise the risk of cross-contamination, we cannot guarantee any dish to be totally free from allergens. We kindly request you let us know if you have any allergies or special dietary requirements in advance of visiting to avoid any disappointment.
If you’re short on time or prefer al-desco dining, we currently offer take-out at lunchtime.
If you’re local, we can facilitate large pre-orders in the evening, if organised in advance and obviously collection times will be subject to availability and may not be possible at peak times.
We do not offer deliveries, so you won’t find us on any of the apps.
Yes, resident DJs play an eclectic mix of retro disco, funk and soul in the bar area, every Friday and Saturday evening from 7pm until midnight.
We are centrally located and well served by public transport with Old Street tube station a mere 5-minutes away, or a 10-minute walk from Liverpool Street, which offers underground and overground services; and just 7-minutes from Shoreditch High Street overground station.
The nearest public Pay & Display is Hoxton Square.
Monday: 17:00 – 23:00
Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday: 12:00 – 23:00
Friday & Saturday: 12:00 – 00:00
Sunday: Closed
Kindly note, our kitchen is closed between 4pm and 5pm every day and between 4:30pm and 5:30pm on Saturdays. Last orders are taken at 10pm, Monday to Thursday and at 10.30pm on a Friday and Saturday evening.
Yes, please let us know prior to the booking and we can accommodate wheelchair access. We also offer a dedicated accessible bathroom facility for guests.
Unfortunately, we do not allow pets in the restaurant except for registered guide dogs. Our casual bar area is dog friendly though, so perfect if you can’t find a dog sitter for the night!
We are delighted to welcome children of all ages to the restaurant and are able to offer highchairs, subject to availability. Please note, we count heads rather than bums so a child’s seat should be included in your overall guest numbers.
We kindly ask that parents show consideration to fellow guests when deciding to bring children to dine with them.
We do not offer a separate children’s menu or smaller portions, however there are suitable dishes on our menus.
Please be advised that space is very limited for pushchairs and buggies so smaller models can be accommodated but large or double prams may need to be folded away and stored during dining.
There is no outdoor space or seating at Apothecary East.
Sorry no, we do not have a cloakroom and therefore cannot store coats, bags, or luggage.
Our dress code is smart-casual; smart trainers are allowed.
Yes, our versatile venue is perfect for a variety of private functions and events with five unique areas to choose from.
