We are now closed
After three fantastic years in Shoreditch, we’re on the move and finished with a bang on Saturday 27th July. Thank you to all our lovely guests and to our team for making the time on Charlotte Road so enjoyable.
We are planning an exciting new restaurant for 2025 in a new location.
So watch this space and follow us on Instagram for updates later in the year.

FROM SMALL PLATES TO GROUP FEASTS
The menus at Apothecary East showcase contemporary Japanese small plates. Our cooking is progressive whilst also respectful to traditional flavours, ingredients and techniques.
Signature dishes include black sesame cauliflower, kakuni bbq pork belly, salmon den miso maki rolls, Wagyu bavette and the moreish miso glazed aubergine. Best enjoyed with an Umeshu Hai or one of our other cocktail specials.
All our vegetarian dishes are also vegan by design, ensuring variety for all.
Lunch is a lighter affair featuring favourites like the chirashi poke bowl and chicken katsu curry, served Tuesday to Friday from 12pm until 3pm but also available to take-out if you’re short on time.
Saturdays start with our lively brunch. Diners can choose to order their highball cocktails individually or go bottomless, but all are perfect for sipping and pairing with food. The generous feast includes popular dishes like karaage fried chicken, gyoza dumplings, crispy prawn tempura and finished with mini mochi moons for a sweet treat.
We ask all groups of 12 or more to dine from one of our set menus. These are substantial and have been designed to incorporate all our main staples, delivered in stages so perfect for sharing.
A short bar menu is also available if you’re just looking for a little snack to accompany your tipple of choice.
MAKING ETHICAL CHOICES
Sustainability has always been front of mind for us and part of what we do as a matter of course.
We are serious about the provenance of our dishes and have a deep respect for the origins of every ingredient.
We are dedicated to not only providing a fantastic guest experience but doing so with a mindful approach to the environment. Our commitment to sustainability extends from sourcing locally whenever possible to minimising food waste and embracing eco-friendly practices in our operations.
KANPAI !
Traditionally an izakaya is an informal Japanese bar for friends and colleagues to unwind and enjoy drinks paired with small plates of freshly prepared food.
The bar at Apothecary East is divided in two, with the large, curved bar forming the centrepiece of the space. An impressive iron gantry is suspended above and neon-lit red as a subtle homage to Tokyo.
The emphasis is on carefully crafted cocktails with all infusions and cordials meticulous made. The bar is well stocked with sake, whiskies, rare spirits, along with a good selection of beers and wine, meaning everyone is catered for.
The fireside lounge with its banquette seating is welcomingly bright by day, whilst remaining warm and inviting during the evening, with the DJ decks in use on Friday and Saturday nights.
Expect a convivial atmosphere and cheerful service.
